SCOTTISH referee Sam Grove-White will take charge of Saturday afternoon’s URC play-off semi-final clash between Vodacom Bulls and Leinster at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. Fellow Scot Mike Adamson along with Adam Jones of Wales will be his assistants, while Ben Whitehouse, also of Wales, will be the TMO.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Warriors’ semi-final away to Munster on Saturday evening will be refereed by Andrea Piardi, who correctly red-carded Tom Jordan for a high-tackle, when these two sides met at Scotstoun in the quarter-finals of last season’s URC.

He will form an all Italian refereeing team with Gianluca Gnecchi and Federico Vedovelli as his assistants, plus Matteo Lipirini as TMO.

  1. The officiating in the Bulls vs Leinster game was disappointing to say the least. There appeared to be a distinct biaise by the referee, what’s the point of having a TMO if he isn’t highlighting errors on his part. The assistant referees were equally poor, appearing not to want to get involved. Has the time come to appoint independent officials such as from New Zealand or Australia.

  2. So, why do rugby allow partial judges to referee? The game of Bulls against Leincester he clearly supported Leincester, or he is blind…

    • Is there new rules in URC Rugby seems the new rules was introduced in the Bulle Leister game. Why was the rugby public not informed….Stange!? Seems Bulls also did not know about the new rules.
