ANDREA PIARDI will referee Saturday’s URC Grand Final between Vodacom Bulls and Glasgow Warriors at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Warriors will have a fair idea of what to expect given that the Italian whistler officiated their semi-final victory over Munster at Thomond Park last weekend, when he handed out two yellow-cards to the visitors – Richie Gray and Matt Fagerson – during the first half, but also sent off home centre Alex Nankivell towards the end of a fierce contest. The final penalty count was 13 against Munster and 11 against Warriors.

Piardi become the first Italian match official to referee a URC Grand Final when Munster beat Bulls in Pretoria in last year’s final. The assistant referees will be Frank Murphy of Ireland and Craig Evans of Wales, while fellow Italian Matteo Liperini is the Television Match Official.
