PIERRE SCHOEMAN is set to make his 100th Edinburgh appearance against Connacht tomorrow [Saturday] night at the Hive Stadium. The loose-head prop is one of 11 internationals in the starting XV, with ‘senior’ coach Sean Everitt making five changes (three enforced) to the side he sent out against Leinster last weekend.

In the pack, Ewan Ashman swaps in for the benched Dave Cherry at hooker, Javan Sebastian replaces the rested WP Nel at tight-head prop, Connor Boyle takes over from the injured Hamish Watson (cheekbone) at openside flanker and fit-again Viliame Mata comes in for the concussed Luke Crosbie out of the way at No 8. Ben Muncaster covers the back-row from the bench after making his return from a knee injury for Watsonians in Super Series last weekend.

The one change behind the scrum sees James Lang take over from Matt Currie, who has a thigh injury, at inside-centre.

“It will be a special evening for Pierre who hits 100 appearances for the club,” said Everitt. “It’s great that he can do it in front of the Edinburgh fans, and I’ve got no doubt they’ll give him brilliant reception tomorrow night.

“It will be a tough test against a Connacht side who are full of confidence, but we’re raring to go. It’s been a really strong week of training and the squad are excited to be back home.”
