GLASGOW have had to recast their back division for tomorrow’s match against Ulster, but have been able to hold on to the bulk of their pack.
The only two changes to the forwards see Enrique Pieretto take over at tight-head from D’Arcy Rae, and Kiran McDonald return to the second-row after a spell in self-isolation because of Covid protocols. Behind the scrum, Jamie Dobie comes in at scrum-half, Robbie Fergusson and Stafford McDowall are at centre, Ratu Tagive is on the wing and Glenn Bryce is at full-back.
Second-row Lewis Bean has been signed on a short-term loan from Northampton and goes straight on to the bench as back-up for McDonald and Rob Harley, who has been omitted from the Scotland squad for the Autumn Nations Cup after being involved against Georgia. Bean is one of six replacement forwards in the matchday 23.
Tagive is another to have been released by Gregor Townsend, but Richie Gray, the third Warrior to be surplus to national requirements, is still sidelined by concussion.
In all, there are 18 players unavailable to Wilson because of injury or international duty. Besides Gray, the injury list comprises Mesu Dolokoto, Lee Jones, Paddy Kelly, Leone Nakarawa and Kyle Steyn. Twelve players are on Scotland duty: Fraser Brown, Scott Cummings, Matt Fagerson, Zander Fagerson, Nick Grigg, Adam Hastings, George Horne, Sam Johnson, Huw Jones, Oli Kebble, Ali Price and George Turner.
Glasgow Warriors (v Ulster at Kingspan Stadium, Monday 8.15pm): G Bryce; R Tagive, R Fergusson, S McDowall, N Matawalu; P Horne, J Dobie; A Seiuli, G Stewart, E Pieretto, R Harley, K McDonald, R Wilson (captain), T Gordon, T Ioane.
