GLASGOW Accies have signed Tommy Spinks as player/coach, adding the former Ayr and Glasgow Hawks forward to an already strong coaching line-up for next season. Accies announced earlier this week that Glasgow Warriors full-back Ruaridh Jackson will be their backs coach next season, with ex-Warriors prop Ryan Grant continuing as forwards coach and Andy Jackson heading up the team.

Spinks, who was part of the Warriors squad in 2014-15 and has also turned out for Jersey Reds, the Ospreys and London Scottish, has spent the past two seasons with Ayr.  “After two fulfilling seasons with Ayr Rugby Club and winning both the League and the Scottish Cup, I’m proud to finally confirm my move to Glasgow Accies for the forthcoming season,” he said. “Glasgow Accies is a very well regarded local rugby club with a rich history.

”I see huge potential within the coaching team, with the likes of Andy Jackson, Ruaridh Jackson and Ryan Grant. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the boys and getting stuck into the season.”

Spinks, who turned 25 last month, has been capped for Scotland Under-18s and Under-20s. Accies finished seventh in National 2 this season.
