GLENN BRYCE was clearly so frustrated at being overlooked for last week’s Dream Team after scoring a hat-trick in Stirling Wolves’ big win over the Future XV that he redoubled his efforts and played even better this week to make sure there was absolutely no way he wouldn’t be named at No 15. Not only was the former Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh man close to flawless in his own play, but also mentored the less experienced Wolves wingers throughout the game.
Scott King was lively on the wing during an overall disappointing 80 minutes for Watsonians at Bridgehaugh, so edges out George Barber of Heriot’s and Jamie Shedden of Ayrshire Bulls in the battle for the No 14 jersey, while Thomas Glendinning is at No 11 after collecting a tricky pass to finish a sweeping move which get the ball rolling for the Bulls in their big away win over the Boroughmuir Bears.
Ryan Southern was a constant threat with ball in hand for Wolves so retains his place at outside-centre alongside the excellent, two-try Bobby Beattie of Ayrshire Bulls at inside-centre.

Teenager Isaac Coates has continued to show his his class as part of Future XV side which has struggled physically and in terms of experience during a rough first five rounds of the campaign, so he is rewarded with selection at stand-off this week as a key figure in the select side which bounced back from their Brigdehaugh mauling two weekends ago to make a game of it against Heriot’s on Saturday afternoon.
His half-back partner is Fergus Johnston, who came off the bench to score two classic scrum-half sniper’s tries.
Into the pack, Tom Banatvala showed up well at loose-head prop for the Future XV having recovered from a long-term injury, opposite number Struan Cessford went well at tight-head after shuffling across from loose-head earlier in the match, and Gregor Hiddleston was man-of-the-math for Stirling Wolves so is at hooker.
Ronan Seydak of Heriot’s joins Jack Fisher – making his third appearance so far in the Dream Team during this campaign – in the engine-room, meaning there is no room for Alfie Scopes of Watsonians.
Sam Wallace was an early replacement at blindside flanker for Heriot’s – on an emergency loan from the Goldenacre ‘Club XV’ – and grabbed his chance against potential rivals for Scotland Under-20s this year by scoring two tries, while Connor Gordon was heroic with a remarkable 28 tackles at openside for Wolves, with another Bridgehaugh man in Ed Hadsell completing the back-row triumvirate.
