SCOTLAND assistant coaches Steve Tandy, John Dalziel and Pieter de Villiers have agreed contract extensions which will run until at least April 2026. This follows news earlier this month that national team head coach Gregor Townsend has signed a deal which for the same period of time.
Tandy was appointed Scotland’s defence coach in 2020 and was part of the British and Irish Lions coaching team in 2021, de Villiers was put in charge of the scrum (initially win a short-term contract) at the same time, while former Glasgow Warriors assistant coach and Scotland Under-20s head coach Dalziel has overseen the senior team’s forwards for the last three years, and .
Meanwhile, former All Black assistant coach and Scarlets head coach Brad Mooar and Glasgow Warriors assistant coach Pete Horne will continue assisting Townsend with the team’s attack during the build-up to this Autumn’s Rugby World Cup and into the tournament itself, having initially been brought in for the 2023 Six Nations. Mental skills coach Aaron Walsh will also continue working with the team during the Rugby World Cup period.
