SCOTTISH RUGBY has confirmed that it will be among the sports represented at a meeting with the Scottish Government’s Sports Minister Joe Fitzpatrick next week “to put forward proactive scenarios around how a return to rugby could look”.
This will follow on from a new working group being set up this week, which will report back to the existing SRU Threat Management Group on how to begin that process of planning for a return to rugby. The group has representatives from both pro teams, plus the medical, events, Rugby Development and performance departments, as well as other areas of the business.
According to a club communication issued by Murrayfield earlier this morning, a step by step approach will be adopted, with numerous different factors taken into consideration, especially around social distancing and management of any potential injuries with the required level of medical support.

No doubt this latest Murrayfield “Working Group” will begin with recognition that at professional level, the season-long cross-border model of the Pro14 competition looks pretty much a busted flush thanks to the impact of Covid-19.
