SCOTLAND will play their final match of their Autumn Test schedule in Dublin against Ireland next Saturday [2.15pm kick-off] in the 3rd/4th place play-off of the Nations Cup.
With England’s 13-24 victory in Wales on Saturday afternoon securing their top of Group A finish, and a 29-5 victory for an understrength French team against Italy in the evening leaving them top of Group B, those two sides will play each for the Nations Cup title at Twickenham next Sunday [2pm kick-off].
Ireland ground out a 23-10 win over a gritty Georgian side on Sunday afternoon meaning they finish second in Group A, while Scotland are guaranteed the same finish in Group B.
Wales play Italy in the 5th/6th place play-off in Llanelli next Saturday [5.45pm] after finishing third in the respective groups, while Georgia will take on Fiji (who are back in training after a Covid outbreak in the squad) at Murrayfield in the 7th/8th place play-off at noon on Saturday.
5th December
12 noon – 7th place play-off – Georgia v Fiji @ Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh
2.15pm – 3rd place play-off – Ireland v Scotland @ Aviva Stadium, Dublin
4.45pm – 5th place play-off – Wales v Italy @ Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli
6th December
2.00pm – 1st place play-off – England v France @ Twickenham, London
Do any of you actually support Edinburgh,well I do and I would like them to win something under Richard Cockrill this year,having the players away for this tournament and the Six nations makes life very difficult.

Good benchmark for Scotland. Progress in the form of a win against Ireland in Ireland.
I can’t disagree with the pointlessness of this 3rd place play off. However, any opportunity to get this group further game time is a good thing from a coaching point of view.
I think Ireland are there for the taking, and we should use this as an exercise in rolling out that template we want to play, and we know that we can play. We do not want to get into an arm wrestle with Ireland. They got drawn into that by England and Georgia. We should learn from that.
we need to end this year with our tails in the air.
Maybe our best chance to be the Irish on the home turf??
