BATH duo Ruaridh McConnochie (winger) and Josh Bayliss (back-row) have been called-up to Scotland’s World Cup training squad, who are heading to St Andrews tomorrow [Monday] for a three-day training camp.

Bayliss replaces Andy Christie who is unable to train currently following an arm injury and will remain at his club to undergo rehabilitation. McConnochie steps in for the retired Stuart Hogg.

Meanwhile, Adam Hastings continues his recovery from his leg injury sustained in the World XV versus Barbarians match at the end of the season and will remain in the squad, meeting up with the team in St Andrews.

  1. McConnochie is good but surely Rory Hutchinson would be better cover? Is he unfit? Or out of favour? He covers pretty much everywhere in the back line except 9.

    • I feel like Hutchinson is very out of favour, also 15 is arguably his worst position and the competition at centres is insane. I’d say Sean Maitland should be getting a call-up? Far better back-three player than McConnochie and has been on great form for Saracens.

      • Maitland was injured in the Premiership final, out for at least 3 months. So wouldn’t be fit for any warm ups and very tight for the RWC itself
