GRANT MOLLISON, aka ‘The Mullet’, was one of the stand-out players as GHA pushed league leaders Currie Chieftains all the way at Braidholm on Saturday so is at full-back, alongside the hard-running Ryan Flett of Glasgow Hawks on the right-wing, while Ronan McKean stuck in well on the left wing for Hawick in atrocious conditions at Philiphaugh.
Neil Armstrong scored a try in an impressive all-round display at outside centre for Edinburgh Accies in their bonus-point win over Musselburgh, and his partner in the middle of the park is Andy Stirrat of GHA, an exciting prospect who also scored a try and really took the game to Chieftains. Fraser Gosse of Hawks is unlucky to miss out.
Jamie Loomes conducted operations with aplomb for Accies so is selected at stand-off, ahead of those two perennial top performers of Gregor Hunter of Chieftains and Colin Sturgeon of Marr. Meanwhile Gary Munro was equally authoritative as Jed-Forest pushed Hawks all the way at Balgray, so is selected at scrum-half ahead of Currie’s Paddy Boyer.

Cole Imrie bounced back after a couple of tough weeks with a big performance at loose-head for Accies, hooker Paul Cairncross made some thunderous hits for Hawks which helped keep them in the driving seat against Jed, and AP McWilliam was at the heart of a strong Chieftains scrummaging performance which was perhaps key to their narrow win at GHA so is selected tight-head just ahead of Dan Gamble of Hawick.
Rory Smith was named as man-of-the-match by Hawick after a gritty performance which helped lay the foundations of their win over Selkirk, and he is joined in the engine-room by Marr’s Fraser Grant, with Hawks’ Sione Halafihi and Musselburgh’s Kieran Watt missing out.
Gregor Nelson earned two crucial turnovers for Currie Chieftains when GHA looked set to score so is at blindside. The battle for the open-side slot was ferocious, with Selkirk’s Scott McClymont edging it just ahead of Scott Plumridge of GHA and Matt Walker of Edinburgh. Ruari Campbell of Edinburgh Accies is at No 8.
