PLENTY of competition at full-back this week. Grant Mollison had a busy afternoon for GHA in their big win over Selkirk, and Rory Hindhaugh’s ran the ball back with real menace and impacted the line superbly to take his try, but Lewis Young of Jed-Forest edges it with a fine all-round performance topped off with a brilliant try in the Borderers’ defeat at Marr.
Scott Derrick‘s powerful running for GHA earns him selection on the right wing, while Gregor Tait‘s four tries for Musselburgh in a big win over Aberdeen Grammar means he is a shoo-in on the left wing.
Ryan Southern posed a threat every time he got on the ball in a man-of-the-match performance as Currie Chieftains posted a big home win over Edinburgh Accies, so is selected in the No13 jersey ahead of Jamie Shedden of Marr. And his midfield partner is Max MacFarlane, who scored a hat-trick and laid a fourth try on a plate for GHA, selected ahead of Rory Watt of Musselburgh and Conor Bickerstaff of Marr.

Youngster Calum Inglis took the challenge of taking over from Colin Sturgeon at stand-off for Marr in his stride, kicking three conversions in an assured all-round display for the league leaders, Kirk Ford of Hawick and Liam Brims after he moved forward to 10 from 15 for Glasgow Hawks miss out.
Meanwhile, Gareth Welsh‘s sniping from scrum-half sees the Hawick man edge out Ben Afshar of Edinburgh Accies and the niggly Nik Stingl of Jed. Danny Owenson could easily have been selected at either nine or 10 having controlled the game expertly in both positions for Musselburgh.
In the pack, Gordon Reid‘s experience when he came off the bench at loose-head prop helped Marr recover from a mid-match wobble versus Jed-Forest, Gregor Hiddleston showed up well for GHA at hooker, and Colin Arthur was both dominant in the scrum and thunderous with ball in hand for Musselburgh versus Aberdeen Grammar.
William Fleming and Hamish Ferguson have been consistent good this season and team-up together in the engine-room, selected ahead of Hawick’s Shaun Fairbairn, Marr’s Harry Murray and GHA’s Jamie McCarthy.
Marr duo Mackenzie Pearce and Cody Cunningham – who kicked a late conversion in almost his last act for the club before heading back to New Zealand – both made strong cases for selection at blindside and openside respectively, but Stuart Graham‘s all-round work-rate for Hawick and Fergus Scott‘s continued excellence for Currie Chieftains gets them the nod. Jae Linton of Hawick is at No8.
