TWO try Charlie Brett of Currie Chieftains is at full-back. Morgan Tait of Hawick and Mason Cullen coming off the bench for Jed-Forest are both unlucky to miss out to the hard-running Jamie Shedden of Marr on the right wing. Gregor Tait is on the left wing having picked up his eighth try of this Premiership campaign with an excellent interception effort for Musselburgh against Hawick.

At outside centre, Brendan McGroarty invariably picked the right option with and without the ball for Glasgow Hawks in their home win over Selkirk, while Andrew Mitchell at inside centre gave a performance to  suggest that his return to Hawick from Southern Knights could be a big boost to the Borderers as they shape up for a tilt at the title. Consistent performers Conor Bickerstaff of Marr, Robbie Kent of Accies and Gregor Young of Jed were all, almost inevitably, not far away from selection in the middle of park.

Gregor Hunter pulled the strings expertly for Chieftains at Jed, so he edges out 21-point (through two tries, four conversions and a penalty) Kirk Ford of Hawick at stand-off, while Gareth Welsh of Hawick is selected ahead of Jack Hamilton of Selkirk and Ben Afshar of Edinburgh Accies at scrum-half.

Loose-head prop this week is Brandon Sweet of Marr. His team-mate, Curran McMillan‘s contribution as a carrier, distributor and competitor on the deck sees him named at hooker ahead of Hawks’ Istok Totic. Tight-head is Ed Stuart of Accies, who put his body on the line in his club’s hour of need, playing his first game of 1st XV rugby in five years, at the ripe old age of 38, out of position, and against the top side in the league.

Jack McLean scored two and carried tirelessly for Glasgow Hawks, so he is in the second-row, alongside Rhys Davies, who registered another towering performance for Currie Chieftains at Jed.

Gregor Nelson of Currie is selected ahead of Musselburgh’s Michael Maltman at openside. Tim Brown‘s all-round performance for Hawks puts him in the side at openside in front of the hard-carrying Matt Crawford of Musselburgh.

Lewis McNamara‘s two tries squeezed the Hawks man into the side in front of Jae Linton of Hawick last week, and the tables are turned this week after a big performance by the Borderer at Musselburgh.

  1. Dodson would get a nosebleed if he came to a Premiership club game.
It wouldn’t cross his mind to attend a match he’s so far up his own ‘jacksie’

  2. Gosh, in the old days the Premiership Dream team would have been called the “Scottish Districts” and would have played against a touring side from the Southern Hemisphere.
Attending the Musselburgh v Hawick match last Saturday I enjoyed a great open game of rugby,a friendly home crowd boosted by a lot of Hawick travelling support.Young children (two of my grandchildren at 5 and 2 years included) happily played amongst the crowd with mothers and other children enjoying the balmy conditions.
Only thing missing was Mark Dodson, who should have been there to celebrate Musselburgh’s centenary but I should have realised he doesn’t do club rugby or was he not invited ?
Looking at other exciting results from the Premiership it seems to me Super 6 won’t be missed with partisan fare available in your area each week.
C’mon down and enjoy the Premiership !
