A MEMBER of the Scotland Men’s squad has tested positive for Covid-19 and eight team-mates have been identified as potential contacts. All nine individuals are now isolating and therefore have been ruled out of Sunday’s A international fixture against England at Welford Road in Leicester.

To respect medical confidentiality, Scottish Rugby will not name the individuals affected.

Five players have been called into the squad as reinforcements. They are: George Taylor (Edinburgh Rugby), Stafford McDowall (Glasgow Warriors), D’Arcy Rae (Glasgow Warriors), Ben Vellacott (Wasps) and Callum Hunter-Hill (Saracens).

The squad was supposed to travel to Leicester yesterday [Thursday] but that was postponed as a precaution and all players and management were PCR tested early that morning. No further positive results were returned from the playing group.

Consequently, this week’s team announcement has been pushed back 10.30am on Saturday to allow time for travel, and the game remains scheduled to go ahead as planned on Sunday at 2pm.
