BOTTOM of the table  Gordonians breathed life into their season with a thumping win over Glasgow Accies. Having previously lost five from five, the men from the north turned on the style to secure a 42-7 victory at Countesswells.

Tom Williams was the man leading the way with two tries. He was joined on the scoresheet by Cameron Howard, William Parker, Matthew Brechin, Jamie Christine, Finn Lennox and Mark Marchbank, with Graeme Crawford adding a conversion.

“I am delighted to get the win,” said victorious head coach Ryan Morrice. “We came out of the blocks quickly and kept our error count down. There is still plenty to work on though.”

Ronan Joy scored Accies only try and they suffered a few injuries meaning they ended the game with just 13 men on the park.

Meanwhile, Peebles bounced back from their first defeat of the campaign against Stewart’s Melville last week by getting the better of GHK [21-15] on Saturday at The Gytes, which puts them back on the coat-tails of league leaders Dumfries Saints.

The home side led 14-12 at half-time and although a Jack Curthbert penalty put GHK 15-12 ahead, the winning try came in the 55th minute. For Peebles, tries were scored by Ross Thompson, Murray Brown and Kieran Brown, while Greg Raeburn kicked three conversions out of three.

GHK scored tries through Ben Frame and Cuthbert, with the latter also kicking five points to secure a losing bonus point.

“I am delighted with the performance,” said Peebles head coach Lewis Bertram. “It was a cracking win against a strong GHK team and we defended very well in the second half.”

Dumfries Saints are still unbeaten after a 72-12 bonus point win over Falkirk put them on 29 points out of a possible 30.

Bobby Douglas continued his good form with an early converted try for the home side at Park Farm and then Rory Steele kicked a penalty. Jack Steele then scored try number two with his brother Rory converting.

Captain Stewart McCulloch scored a converted effort for Falkirk, but JP Thompson and Jordan Kerr tries got Dumfries the four try bonus point before half-time.

After the break, Falkirk scored one more try, but Dumfries added eight. They came from Rory Steele (2), Rob Neill (3), Craig Goldie, Andrew Whiteford and Douglas.

Stew Mel were frustrated to only pick up a losing bonus point at Preston Lodge, especially after being 12-6 up at the break. Jamie McGurk, Charlie Simmonds and Joe Bailey scored tries for the Edinburgh side with Euan Morrison kicking two conversions.

Hamilton Bulls were on form to win 49-19 at Whitecraigs. Nathan Brown was the star man for the Bulls, with a hat-trick of tries with Gary Adams picking up two, and Billy Simpson, James Howatson and Andrew Wilson also crossing. Owen McLeish kicked the rest of the points.

For the hosts, Lewis Ramage, Michael Christine and James Baxendale scored tries.

Kirkcaldy battled back from 6-0 down at half-time to win 7-6 at Newton Stewart. Two penalties from Jack Gaw had Newton Stewart up, but Connor Wood scored a try for the visiting Fifers which Fin Smith converted to edge a narrow win. The game was in the balance right until the end, but Kirkcaldy skipper Josh Laird won a late turnover to seal the away triumph.
