SCOTT CUMMINGS will return to action after a shoulder injury ruled the second-row out of Glasgow Warriors’ last two matches, when he lines up against La Rochelle in Sunday’s Champions Cup campaign opener at Stade Marcel Deflandre.

Meanwhile, Matt Fagerson comes in at blindside flanker in place of Ryan Wilson, who is following Covid protocols, with scrum-half Ali Price taking over the captaincy. Sam Johnson also returns at inside-centre, leading to a reshuffle of the three-quarters line, with Sione Tuipulotu shifting to outside-centre, Kyle Steyn moving to the right wing, and Cole Forbes dropping out.

A six-two split on the bench has George Horne and Duncan Weir covering the backs, and reflects the huge physical challenge the Glasgow coaching team are expecting up front.

Exiles match offers chance to be frivolous and jolly in the Granite City

“After a good performance last week against Dragons last week, this week we welcome back all of our rested internationals and we’re looking forward to the huge challenge of taking on last year’s European finalists La Rochelle away from home,” said head coach Danny Wilson.

“In my time working with Ali [Price], I’ve been really impressed with his leadership and development as a player. It’s a huge achievement to reach the milestone of making 100 appearances for your club and this weekend it’s doubled up by being named captain for our game.

“We know in Europe the level of intensity and accuracy takes a step up and we expect our players to match that and showcase the qualities of a Warrior.”

  1. LAR look to be at full strength. Massive pack. Poor fly half. Really about keeping the ball and shutting down Kerr-Barlow
