FORMER Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw appears set to join French second tier side Perpignan, according to reports from France.

The 34-year-old scrum-half is out of contract with Clermont at the end of the season but had hoped to extend his stay with the club. However, that option was ruled out when they chose to recruit Sébastien Bézy from Toulouse.

Reports in France now indicate that he is in advanced talks with second tier side Perpignan, who were currently pushing hard for a return to the top flight. They are second in Rugby Pro D2, one point away from a promotion spot with a game in hand.
