GLENN BRYCE will join former Glasgow Warriors team-mates Adam Ashe and DTH van Der Merwe in Los Angeles to play Major League Rugby with LA Giltinis when his current contract at Scotstoun runs out in two weeks’ time.
The 29-year-old full-back signed a short-term deal with Warriors back in August and has performed well in the No15 jersey when starting five of nine matches played so far this season. However, with Huw Jones‘ switch from centre to full-back a success so far, Tommy Seymour able fill in there if required (although both are out of contract in the summer), and youngsters Rufus McLean and Ollie Smith waiting for their chances, Bryce has decided to grab the opportunity to seek a new adventure across the Atlantic.
“The greatest excitement for me is coming to a new league and a new club where you can drive the culture and make it our own from the very start,” said Bryce. “Making memories is a big motivation for me and getting to do that with a fresh start in a city with such a sporting history as LA is massive.

“I got to play at the Las Vegas Sevens with Scotland so I understand how crazy and loud American fans can be when they get into their rugby.
“When I look at the players and coaches that the Giltinis have signed, we’ll be making a statement on the field from the first game.”
California-native Langilangi Haupeakui, who had a short spell with Glasgow back in 2016, has also been signed up by the Giltinis ahead of the kick-off of the MLR season on 20th March.
“Glenn was tipped to us by Wallabies coach Dave Rennie (the former Warriors coach) who said he rated him a starting full-back at Super Rugby level,” said Giltinis head coach Darren Coleman. “He’s a big, rangy full-back with a long kick and someone looking for a new challenge in a good professional rugby career.”

I really rate this player and enjoy watching him play. This is great news for LA. I will make a point to go out and watch him play as I live in the states. I am surprised to hear he is leaving Glasgow as he seemed to get better with every game he played. Good luck Glenn.
Surely the SRU could pursue a loan agreement for Sean Maitland for the remainder of this season? As things stand he isn’t going to play for Saracens until March. He is effective at full-back and would free up Jones to play at 13.
I have to confess Glasgow begins to leave me totally mystified as to what they are doing recently. I have to think that the reason Bryce grabbed the opportunity to play in the USA is Glasgow were being not forth coming with a deal.From what I have seen of him he is a good player and if the final paragraph of the article is correct and Rennie highly rated him, then since they have no one better and no backup come the 6N then why not hold on to him. The one area Glasgow seem to be short in is new talent, and not to play Johnson & Jones at centre seems daft to me, so shifting Jones to 15 confuses me.
Get Stafford McDowall fit and into the 15 jersey.
I think he could do a really-good job there for Glasgow.
McLean and Smith may be the future, but, they need to be playing a bit more at S6 level to gain experience.
