GLASGOW WARRIORS will host English Premiership side Newcastle Falcons in a pre-season friendly at Scotstoun on Friday 3rd September, with a 7pm kick-off. It is anticipated that some sort of crowd will be allowed to attend the match, with ticket details to be announced shortly, subject to Covid safety guidance.

This is the first time these two sides have gone head-to-head since Warriors picked up a 17-7 victory in a pre-season friendly at Firhill in 2011.

Warriors have already announced that their other pre-season match will be away to Worcester Warriors a week later on Friday 10th September.

“I’m pleased we’ve secured pre-season games against two quality English Premiership sides,” said Warriors head coach Danny Wilson. “These games will provide us with a standard of competition that will help us to be game-ready for the URC getting underway later in September.

“Pre-season has started well, and we look forward to getting into our second block of training next week which will take us up to these fixtures.”

Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Al Kellock added: “We are continuing to work hard behind the scenes on our plans for returning to crowds at Scotstoun. It is our intention to bring fans back for this fixture, which will make it an extra special occasion worth celebrating. We look forward to confirming those details in due course. Our thanks to The Famous Grouse who have put their name to our home pre-season game for another year.”
