GLASGOW WARRIORS have signed utility-back Tom Jordan on a short-term deal with immediate effect.
The 23-year-old from Auckland, who will become Scottish qualified in October 2022, was a key man for Ayrshire Bulls in their recent title-winning Super6 campaign, being named man-of-the-match in their play-off final triumph over Southern Knights last month.
Jordan is a familiar face at Scotstoun having trained with the club during the 2020-21 season. He started the last Super6 season playing inside-centre, but his switch to stand-off mid-campaign was one of the triggers to the Bulls’ strong end to the campaign.
“I’ve been here in and out for training over the last year or so, but to sign a professional contract here is awesome,” said Jordan. “I’m over the moon and I can’t wait to get stuck in with the boys for the rest of the season.
“If I get the opportunity to run out in front of a full house at Scotstoun, that’d be amazing. I really like to chuck the ball around and put others in space, so I’m looking forward to playing the Glasgow style of rugby and playing some heads-up footy.”
Head Coach Danny Wilson added: “We’re pleased to be able to bring Tom into our environment. He’s been someone that has impressed us whenever he’s come in to train with us – he’s a hard-working player and he’s earned his opportunity.
“He also impressed us throughout the FOSROC Super6 season when we watched Ayrshire Bulls’ fixtures – his Player of the Match performance in the final showed just what he can do, and he’s a player that we think will fit into our system really well.”
Meanwhile, Edinburgh Academy scrum-half Roan Frostwick, who played for Watsonians in Super6 last season and has turned out twice for Marr in the Premiership recently, has English Championship side Ampthill on loan.
