GLASGOW WARRIORS defeated Edinburgh 43-21 in the Junior (under-20s) 1872 Cup at Scotstoun this [Sunday] afternoon.
The home side raced into 19-0 lead during the opening quarter of an hour, with Iain Carmichael, Callum Folan and Andy Stirrat all crossing the try-line, while captain Euan Cunningham weighed in with two conversions.
A Matt Reid try, converted by Matt Russell, got the capital side off the mark in the 20th minute, and the scoring swung back and forth during the remainder of the half. Ali Rogers dotted down and Cunningham once again converted for Glasgow, Gregor Scougall then scored for Edinburgh with Russell converting, before a Callum Inglis try extended Glasgow’s lead to 31-14 at the break.
The scoring rate slowed down in the second half, with Rogers claiming his second try for Glasgow, Robbie Easson scoring a Russell converted try for Edinburgh, and Cameron Murphy scoring a Cunningham converted try for the home side with just two minutes to go.
