TONGAN international Walter Fifita is in line for a Glasgow Warriors debut this weekend after the winger was named amongst the replacements for tomorrow night’s United Rugby Championship clash against the Ospreys at Scotstoun.
Head coach Danny Wilson has kept the same backline and made just two changes to the pack which started in the 22-7 victory over Exeter Chiefs in the Champions Cup three week’s ago. Kiran McDonald makes his first start of the season in the second-row in place of Richie Gray, while club co-captain Ryan Wilson returns from a Covid-enforced break to play blindside flanker, with Matt Ferguson shifting across the back-row replace he unavailable Jack Dempsey at No 8.
The bench sees the inclusion of Fraser Brown for the first time since he injured his knee October, and Jamie Dobie comes back into the fold covering scrum-half after missing out on both of the club’s Heineken Champions Cup fixtures.
“After a couple of weeks with no game and a good week’s training this week, we are really looking forward to getting back to league rugby at Scotstoun tomorrow evening,” said Wilson.
“Ospreys are a quality side full of international experience. They sit above us in the league and this will be another huge challenge, but one we’re excited about and looking forward to.
“We’re pleased to welcome back the experience and leadership of both Ryan Wilson and Fraser Brown, and Walter Fifita has the opportunity to make his first involvement for the club.”
