BRITISH & IRISH LIONS tourists Ali Price and Zander Fagerson have been named in the Glasgow Warriors’ starting XV for the first time this season ahead of the team’s URC clash against Leinster at Scotstoun tomorrow [Friday] night. It will be the team’s last match before the break for Scotland’s autumn Test schedule.

Meanwhile, Ross Thompson has been selected out of position at full-back by head coach Danny Wilson, with Duncan Weir occupying the stand-off slot.

Thompson is in Scotland’s 42-man training squad for the Autumn Tests and is expected to compete against Blair Kinghorn for the No10 jersey against Tonga a week on Saturday. However, Damien Hoyland and Rufus McLean – who are both primarily wingers – are the only other full-back options available to Gregor Townsend for that match, so there may be a need for some mixing-and-matching.

Rob Harley, who was included in Scotland’s Autumn Test training squad announced on Wednesday, will make his first start of the season  in the second-row, alongside Richie Gray, who will not be involved with the international schedule over the next month.

No8 Jack Dempsey comes back into the squad after missing the trip to Italy last weekend, lining up alongside Ryan Wilson and Rory Darge in the back-row.

“We’re pleased to be able to welcome our British and Irish Lions back for tomorrow’s match,” said Wilson. “Both Ali [Price] and Zander [Fagerson] have trained well since returning to our environment and both men are eager to play their part for the team.

“Leinster will be a big test for our squad – they’ve been the benchmark for the rest of the competition in recent years and we know they’ll present a physical challenge tomorrow night.

“It’s important for us to finish this first block of fixtures in the right manner, and we want to build on our three straight wins ahead of the international window.”
