DAVE Rennie has made five changes to his starting line-up for tomorrow’s Champions Cup match against La Rochelle, including the restoration of Ali Price and Huw Jones. Price, who performed impressively off the bench in last week’s 27-24 win against the French club, swaps places with George Horne for the rematch at Scotstoun. Jones is at outside centre in place of Nick Grigg, and will be partnered by Stafford McDowall, who is in for the rested Sam Johnson.

The fourth change in the backs sees Kyle Steyn come in at 14 as an indirect replacement for DTH van der Merwe, having scored a try last week shortly after coming off the bench. Niko Matawalu moves from right-wing to left to accommodate Steyn. Up front, Aki Seiuli makes his first start after performing well as a substitute in his first couple of outings for the club.

On the bench, Pete Horne has been ruled out by a head knock, so Ruaridh Jackson returns. In addition to Horne and Van der Merwe, the other players named as unavailable due to injury are: Nick Frisby (ankle), Siua Halanukonuka (calf), Oli Kebble (head), Paddy Kelly (hamstring), Kiran McDonald (hip), D’Arcy Rae (hand), Ratu Tagive (hamstring), Brandon Thomson (calf) and Jale Vakaloloma (shoulder).

“It’s a massive game for us,” head coach Rennie said. “Based on how some of the other pools are going, if you don’t win the pool those three runners-up spots are going to be heavily contested. We know we need to win and win well.

“La Rochelle are a good side who will be hurting from losing last week. They’ll have a real crack at us. We know there are bits of our game to work on from last week, and we’ve had a good focus this week.”

  1. Watch G Alldritt (excellent young player), already a french international, with a scottish dad, a shame he’s not commited with Scotaland…
