LEONE Nakarawa will make his first Glasgow appearance for nearly a year if he comes off the bench against Edinburgh tomorrow. The Fijian has been out of action with a knee injury since playing against the Dragons last February, but after a slow start to his recovery is now poised to make what Warriors coach Danny Wilson hopes will be a telling contribution to the remainder of the season.

Wilson has made just one change from the team that was due to start this fixture a week ago only for the game to be postponed because of a frozen pitch, bringing in Aki Seiuli at loosehead in place of Oli Kebble. With Kebble out after sustaining a head knock in training on Thursday, academy prop Tom Lambert comes on to the bench.

Back-three player Ollie Smith is also poised to make his debut along with Lambert should he be called on, while winger Rufus McLean will make his first appearance, having been named in the starting 15. Ross Thompson, a substitute in the 10-7 defeat by Edinburgh at the start of the month, makes his first start for Glasgow.

“Like we said last weekend, we want to give an opportunity to a few boys we think deserve their shot based on their efforts in training over the last couple of weeks,” Wilson said after naming his team. “There are a lot of highlights in this week’s team selection. We’re excited to see how Ross goes at fly-half and for Rufus to get his first run out for the club.

“On the bench we’re looking forward to welcoming back Leone and giving Tom Lambert and Ollie Smith their first taste of senior rugby. We’ve worked hard this week in training, and we’re excited to get the game under way.”

The following players are listed as unavailable for selection: Alex Allan, Fraser Brown, Adam Hastings, George Horne, Pete Horne, Sam Johnson, Oli Kebble, Paddy Kelly, Sean Kennedy, Niko Matawalu, Kiran McDonald, Ewan McQuillin, Tommy Seymour, Kyle Steyn and George Thornton.
