SCOTLAND’S Six Nations clash against France in Paris on Sunday has been given the green light to be played as scheduled..
The match was in doubt due to a Covid outbreak in the French squad, but after two days of all negative test results, the Six Nations Testing Oversight Group (TOG) has issued the following statement:
Further to a meeting of the Six Nations Testing Oversight Group (TOG) this morning to review the latest tests results of the French Squad, the Six Nations confirm the plans to stage the France v Scotland match as originally scheduled this coming Sunday. We continue to monitor the situation very closely and are in regular contact with both unions.
After two days of training alone, the French squad resumed contact training earlier today, with 10 members of the national Under-20s team taking part, which has been approved by TOG.
“These players performed the two negative RT-PCR tests before joining the France group, and will be subjected to daily PCR tests like the rest of the group,” said a statement from Fédération Française de Rugby [FFR]. “The Medical Committee declares the risk of contamination to be zero.”
Training suspended due another positive case. I think this puts the game under threat now.
This is great news. However i can see the luvvies in the media saying if Scotland win, it was under strength France B . If Scotland lose , they cannot compete. Like Jamie Roberts getting all the plaudits and giving it i told you so because Wales won. Neglecting completely it was against 14 men for bulk of second half. Anyway. Cmon Scotland
something less than France second XV were very unlucky not to beat England in the Autumn Cup final at Twickers.
Very tough game, France still big favourites
Great news.
Hope so, and hopefully my concerns that some in the Scotland camp might pick up an infection on the trip to Paris are unfounded.
One thing for sure the cynic in me suggests that the FFR still consider they have a team good enough to win, otherwise I think they would be making more of the ‘let’s play next week’.
It will still be a good game to win and nothing should be taken for granted about the French missing a couple of players, by all accounts they do have strength in depth.
Well said George, this is still a team we have not won away to in over a decade, and we saw how difficult they can be even with a second string in the Autumn. Expecting strong defence with Shaun Edwards at the helm.
Backing our team to edge this one now though.
You are on the money Neill with Edwards he has been arguably the making of the team.
