FINN RUSSELL will play for Racing 92 against Toulon on Saturday evening. The stand-off had been expected to spend the entirety of the Six Nations in camp with Scotland, but the postponement of last Sunday’s round three clash against France has changed the dynamic of the whole campaign in terms of keeping players fresh and match-ready.

This weekend falls outside World Rugby’s Regulation Nine windows for international player release, and a number of Scotland’s English based-players including captain Stuart Hogg and Jonny Gray of Exeter Chiefs, Chris Harris and Alex Craig of Gloucester, Sean Maitland and Duncan Taylor of Saracens, Cornell du Preez of Worcester Warriors, Jamie Bhatti of Bath, and Allan Dell of London Irish, will also be in action for their clubs.

Scotland look particularly light at stand-off at the moment with Adam Hastings suspended, Duncan Weir missing “a large part” of the remainder of the season with grade three AC joint injury in his shoulder, and Jaco van der Walt missing this weekend’s match for Edinburgh through injury, meaning Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend will be keeping a particularly close eye on events at Stade Mayol tomorrow evening.

  1. Would be interesting to know that all of the lads playing are ok, no bumps, bruises or Cards!

  2. Wonder who the next in rank will be if Jaco unavailable, personally i would not have a replacement 10.

Not sure i would have any of these playing 10 internationally yet/anymore but.
Ross Thompson – Nathan Chamberlain – Peter Horne – James Lang – Rory Hutchison – Cam Redpath (if fit)

    • God forbid Finn picks up and injury but the situation may require Hogg at stand off as we are better covered at full back with Mainland, Kinghorn (if fit) or even Huw Jones.
