DUNCAN WEIR has been added to Scotland’s Six Nations training squad as replacement for the exiled Finn Russell ahead of next Saturday’s tournament opener against Ireland.

The 28-year-old earned the most recent of his 27 caps in the 2017 tournament, before Gregor Townsend took over as head coach, although the two men worked together at Glasgow Warriors between 2012 and 2016.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh wing Darcy Graham sustained a knee injury in training at Oriam earlier this week and is not expected to feature in Scotland’s opening rounds of the championship after an MRI scan at Spire Murrayfield Hospital confirmed the extent of the ligament damage.

Edinburgh prop Jamie Bhatti, Glasgow Warriors back-row Tom Gordon, Sale Sharks wing Byron McGuigan and Russell have not been selected to travel with the group on Sunday to their pre-tournament training camp in Spain.

The door remains open for Finn Russell to make Six Nations return
