EDINBURGH RUGBY have confirmed that Darryl Marfo has left the club with immediate effect. The departure comes following a period in which Marfo, 29, has seen limited playing time.
Marfo has made 11 appearances for the capital side in total after joining from Bath, initially on a one-year deal, in the summer of 2017. He made a bright start to life in the capital and picked up three caps for Scotland during the 2017 Autumn Tests, but struggled through the remainder of that season with a back injury.
He was given a two-year contract extension in March 2018 but has since managed just 21 minutes off the bench against Munster in the PRO14 in November 2018.
“We thank Darryl for his hard work during his time at the club and we wish him all the best moving forward,” said head coach Richard Cockerill.
Sad to hear – Darryl was an exciting prospect in his 3 games for Scotland and always nice to hear such an inspirational story of someone putting a shift in to rise in the game. Wish him the very best and hope he gets some game time soon
IS a shame we never saw more of Darryl. He showed guts in the test matches. He came along to the minis at Lasswade and was brilliant with the kids, he had loads of time for them and joined in a game or two. The kids loved him , he was a great example of how a pro player can inspire the next generation. Hopefully he will be signed up pretty quick and get some game time soon.
