SOUTHERN KNIGHTS have recruited former Scottish Rugby academy and Edinburgh squad member Dan Gamble for the remainder of the Super Series Sprint and the Championship after the summer.
The 22-year-0ld tight-head prop has been released by the capital pro side having managed just three appearances since being recruited on an academy deal in May 2020, and his continued involvement in performance rugby north of the border is good news given that he plays a position where players often come of age later in their careers.
Gamble came through the ranks for Kelso RFC before joining Merchiston Castle School as a scholarship player. He represented Scotland at under-16 and under-18 levels, and has had a couple of spells playing for London Scottish in the English Championship during the last 18 months.

He has played Super6/Series Rugby with Heriot’s in previous campaigns and with Edinburgh A at the start of this Sprint Series.
“I’m really excited to have signed for the Knights and looking forward to working with the coaching team of Alan Tait, Lewis Carmichael and Scott Wight,” said Gamble. “Being a Borderer and Kelso born and bred, it was an easy decision and with Taity’s involvement as head coach, I’ve been following the Knights and excited to join this group.
“I’m excited to stay in the Super Series knowing the standard and quality in the league and, discussing what the Knights plans are, it’s an exciting project.”
Head coach Tait added: “It’s great to have signed Dan for the Knights. Having played a few senior games for Edinburgh and with his involvement in the Super Series and English Championship this season, we know he’s going to add quality to this group.
“We’ve been working with Edinburgh Rugby to support his transition into the Knights and he’ll be a massive boost to our group and add some competition in to an already strong front-row”.
