WATSONIANS are up and running with a hard fought victory against previously undefeated Stirling County and are rewarded with three players in the team of the week. Melrose are once again well represented after a virtuoso first half demolition of champions Ayr.
Heriot’s have two players in the side after their first win of the season away to Glasgow Hawks – and it could easily have been three but second-row Callum Marshall is unfortunate to miss out.
Vince Wright of Currie Chieftains gets the nod (alongside Iain Moody) in the boiler house instead, after scoring his team’s winner against Boroughmuir by charging-down a kick in midfield and then coming out on top in a 30 yard footrace to reach the ball before it bounced over the dead-ball line.
Openside was perhaps the most keenly contested position with Tommy Spinks of Ayr, Thomas Gordon of Currie Chieftains and Grant Runciman of Melrose among the unlucky players to miss out to Jack McLean of Heriot’s.
