Boroughmuir Academy appoint Alex Toolis as new Academy and Performance Manager

Former Edinburgh, London Irish, Melbourne Rebels and London Scottish second-row starts at Meggetland on 5th January

BOROUGHMUIR ACADEMY have appointed Alex Toolis as it’s new Academy and Performance Manager. Originally from Australia where he played for GPS Old Boys in Brisbane, the former Edinburgh, London Irish, Melbourne Rebels and London Scottish second-row will start in the role on 5th January, having recently been employed a s Youth Development Officer at Livingston RFC.

Toolis’ twin brother, Ben, who has played 127 game for Edinburgh and 26 times for Scotland, recently announced that he is moving to Japan at the end of this season.

“Since the relaunch of the Boroughmuir Rugby Academy some five years ago, we have seen huge progress and player/coach development over all our age groups, and Alex’s appointment will only enable & enhance Boroughmuir Academy to continue with this progression,” said Boroughmuir Academy Director Scott Anderson.

“Alex is hugely passionate about working with diverse team environments, supporting, and encouraging rugby from a grassroots level, developing athleticism, inclusivity and most importantly, fun rugby playing sessions for all age groups.

“He believes that his future career and passion lies with the driving, developing and delivery of rugby performance from a young age to club rugby and beyond, so is a great fit for our Youth Academy covering all our age groups, as well as leading our successful Player Development Programme.

“The Academy has seen massive growth and success over the last few years and we now have over 420 players and 90 coaches from our P1 to U18 age groups.”
