ALLAN DELL has been called up to Scotland’s Six Nations training squad as a direct replacement for Jamie Bhatti, who hurt his hand playing for Glasgow Warriors against Connacht on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Josh Bayliss has not linked up with the squad to start preparation for Saturday’s Calcutta Cup clash against England. He is continuing his recovery from concussion with Bath.

Duhan van der Merwe and Kyle Rowe, who were ill last week, have now joined up with the squad, with Sean Maitland returning to Saracens.

29-year-old Dell brings 32-caps worth of experience to the set-up. He was Scotland’s first choice loose-head at the 2019 World Cup but has not worn the jersey since coming off the bench against France at the end of the 2020 Six Nations.

He currently plays for London Irish and has made 12 appearances (one start and 11 off the bench) for the club this season. He was not involved in Saturday’s 18-14 victory over Exeter Chiefs.

  1. So Maitland’s oot again. Until someone stubs his toe, maybe. Hope he’s bought a return ticket. Genuinely sorry he’ll not be involved.

  2. I’m disappointed for Bhatti. He went to Bath and scrummaged really well and has done well for Glasgow this year too. I’m surprised Dell has been called in ahead of Kebble. Maybe Kebble is not clear from the head knock at Connacht and not able to train this week?

    • Schoeman and Sutherland clearly 1st choices, Dell very dependable, shows how far Keeble has fallen down the list… happier with Harris at 13 with Redpath at 12.

      • Kebble was taken off after an assault to the head on Saturday. I suspect its more than than falling down the pecking order
