- As expected, Melrose were too hot for Marr to handle – firecrackers going off all over the park – Fraser Thomson, Sam Pecqueur, Craig Jackson and Jason Baggot outstanding.
- Currie Chieftains got the result against Stirling County – but they did it the hard way. Started well – picked up a red card – surrendered the initiative – pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Resilience?
- Ayr let Heriot’s have it with both barrels at Millbrae. Solid and forceful up front – Robbie Nairn and Stafford McDowall rampant behind – Frazier Climo pulling the strings and Scott Lyle kicking his goals. It is going to be some game at The Greenyards on 9th December.
- Hard work supporting Glasgow Hawks. After forfeiting a 27 point lead to Currie last week they saw a twenty one point lead against Watsonians cut to two. Huge relief all round Anniesland when they managed to hang on – but it has to be a worry.
- Ayr at Millbrae was always going to be a tough mission for Heriots – and a decimated back division perhaps wrecked their prospects – but you have to fight with what you have got – and maybe they did not fight as hard as they could or should have. Certainly, they will need to be at full strength and on top of their game when they defend the Bill McLaren Shield against Melrose next Saturday.
- Another frustrating day for Stirling County at Malleny – played well but shot themselves in the foot again with a sluggish start and a lack of discipline.
- Boroughmuir scored ten tries against a fragile Hawick defence to find themselves a more solid footing just above the relegation quagmire. Another big opportunity to move further towards safety against Watsonians next weekend.
- Watsonians gave it a go against Hawks but came up just short defensively. It does, however, still feels as though they are moving in the right direction — with a very interesting fixture against Boroughmuir to come this Saturday.
