SCOTLAND number eight Ryan Wilson has been cited for an alleged act of foul play during Saturday’s Calcutta Cup clash against England by the independent Citing Commissioner appointed by World Rugby.

The alleged offence, contact with the eye area of an opponent (Law 9.12) took place in the 37th minute of the match, as Wilson scuffled with opposite number Nathan Hughes on the ground.

A disciplinary hearing will be convened before a Six Nations Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday.

Law 9.12 states that: “A player must not physically or verbally abuse anyone. Physical abuse includes, but is not limited to, biting, punching, contact with the eye or eye area, striking with any part of the arm (including stiff-arm tackles), shoulder, head or knee(s), stamping, trampling, tripping or kicking.”
